All non ferrous scrap metal is weigh-bridged at our Picton Yard which segregates and processes different commodities such as:
Batteries
Copper
Aluminium / aluminium cans
Brass
Stainless steel
Mix metals etc.
Once processed and segregated the materials are transported to direct end users and / or direct to containers being prepared for export.
Ferrous materials are mainly weigh-bridged at our Picton yard and then delivered to our Copplestone Road processing facility. This yard is designed for processing, segregation and storage of ferrous materials consisting of scrap such as:
Export 80/20 grade
Light gauge type of scrap i.e. fridge, tin, mufflers,... etc which can be shredded
Car bodies
Manganese and Nyhid
General accumulation of materials with some salvageable components prior to cutting up for scrap
The Scrap processing yard has an electric shear bailer installed which has an output of 100 tonnes per day. The Shear Bailer processes light type metals and the shearing cycle has an automatic setting. The Shear Bailer can be operated from inside the cab or can be automated by the machine operator from his machine. The bails are categorised as “clean” bails or “dirty” bails and are bulk shipped overseas.
The site is DEP approved as it contains all its surface water. In summer the surplus water is used for dust control or fuel tank degassing.
Approximately three times per year J&P exports overseas from the site through our local Bunbury Port facility.
